I remember just a few months ago when I was back home for vacation and was heading out at the JKIA, All the "wazungus" were allowed to Pass through the que, but when me and my buddy were approaching the check in counters, suddenly we were stopped for random checks and asked to open our bags, i mean we were as black as you can get and somehow we were targetted as being potential terrorists!, the "wazungus" carry ons were not weighed in, they sure looked like they were heavy, but when we got to the counter we were asked to weigh in our carry ons, which certainly were not as heavy as the ones that had gone by. To make things worse it was fellow black Kenyans doing this. Not to mention that this brought back memories from the previous year when i was back home again in Mombasa for vacation and was taken as a cab driver and never allowed into my hotel where i was staying, think of how much I contributing to the local economy. It seems like everytime i go home i experience extreme discrimination from my own people when i should be feeling at home. I think we still have the inferiority complex when it comes to dealing with whites. People need to grow out of their colonial mentalities and realize this is the 21st century

Outsourcing Jobs To Kenya

Anybody know why India's and China's economies are doing so good. Outsourcing!!! Why is it that we do not have our embassies abroad, especially here in the U.S pushing hard for corporations to set up some of their operations in Kenya. I mean, afterall we have a large pool of educated Kenyans who do not have jobs and communicate effectively. Well, it comes back to the kind of government we have that is not really interested with the advancement of the people as a whole, but a few individuals. Some of this lame MP'S should be travellilng abroad in trying to bring some of this companies to their constituencies. Oh wait a minute! even for investment, our environment is not conducive enough. It takes along process in Kenya to get that done compared to countries like India and China. The place is almost the same but quit a change compared to just last year. The roads are pathetic, can you believe that the Nakuru- Nairobi road which serves The whole of East Africa is disastrous, men!! the ride through there to kisii was unbelievable. How do we expect to get foreign investments when the infrastructure is vitually inexistence, the government has been able to collect alot of tax but what the monies is doing is not conspicous.
Kenya is full of the same petty politics, the population has exploded and yet we seem not to be doing enough for our citizens. Look at the way Kenya has developed and evolved over the years, the only places that have seen any kind of development are the same places that the colonialist had put emphasis on. So what happened to our leadership that we are seeing such a phenomenon? Well with Kenyatta a majority of Central and Nairobi provinces saw a fair share of development, then under MOI of course the Riftvalley, as you can see they marshaled through the same kind of development emphasis that the colonialist had put in place for us. We are at the point in KENYA where the ordinary citizens are trying to free themselves from the neo-colonialist that we have in Kenya. What Kenya needs is leaders who really put all the four corners of our country in the forefront and not just but a few places.

Improve our infrastructure!

How can a baby learn how to walk before they attempt to crawl? of course that's an impossibility. What I am talking about here is our Kenyan infrastructure be it roads, communication lines or even hospitalls. We all know that we greatly need to invest in our economy, but for us to successfully do so, we need a good transportation network that can enable us move goods and services easily within the country. Look around, the most developed countries have got good transportation systems and that is not by mistake. Even our hospitals need a total makeover, think about it, a healthy population is more productive and will contribute more to the economy compared to an unhealthy population. A healthy population leads to reduced healthcare costs, these monies in turn could be spent somewhere else of importance. Let our politicians know that we have no time for their petty politics and rhetoric, it's time for them to propose bold ideas that will spark development of our economy and greater good of country.

Genetically modified food is potentially big business

And so I get back to my earlier concerns, are the companies producing genetically modified food really serious about hunger in Africa or are they concern with big profits? So let's once again put things in perspective, over 50% of the Kenyan people live on less than $1 a day while some of our ministers can afford to live on $500 a day. For one's conscious not to be able to identify such a phenomenon, leave's one with no choice other than to declare them greedy and self centered. Most of us keep complaining about the situation back home! why can't we bring our minds together and come up with ideas that can seriously put us on a path to prosperity. Look at Ghana not everything is perfect there but atleast the climate is conducive enough for development to take place. I know we have quite a pool of talented Kenyans out there who are really serious about helping the Kenyan people. And so for all who have ideas on what to do, throw them out there and let us ponder on that and come up with real tangible solutions. check out this salary figures for our ministers and the poverty rate and where it is concentrated. The document is in pdf format and is about 37 MB.

How to improve Kenya's power generation

You will be amazed that just a few years ago Kenya and Malaysia were at the same level when it came to the generations of power through the use of Geothermal. Now though, Malaysia has greatly advanced it's capabilities while we still lag behind. The main reasons for this are obvious, lack of visionary leaders and corruption. We need to be pursuing these avenues seriously. Hope we can get some leaders who are trully committed to advancing the well being of Kenyan's.

http://www.ormat.com/projects_kenya.htm

These Kenyan politicians are back at their usual games!!!

Yah,I predicted that before it even happened. I am talking about Kenyan politicians trying to switch positions now. Some of them are declining cabinet positions not out of principle but simply because of there power hunger. We all know by now that Kibaki is not going to win the next election( By the way he is 78 years old why would we vote for such a person in the first place) all they are doing is playing with the Kenyan electorate. These are the same tactics that they have employed over the years and our people have blindly voted for them every time. I hope this time around our fellow citizens wake up and see these guys for what they are.
Initially I figured we should wait for two years to vote him out, but now i am convinced we need elections now!!!

WHAT A SHAME LOOK AT THE NEW CABINET!!

Check this out, what is the difference between the old cabinet and this one? somebody please tell me i am not dreaming

MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS

DECEMBER 7, 2005

1. What I am talking about is the incredible numbers of savvy, intellectual and ever conscious kenyans moving to different countries around the world mostly to Britain, United States and Canada in search of better lives for themselves and their families. I must confess that I am one of those who moved to the United States to pursue that very goal and soon to graduate. What perplexes me and is mind buggling is the shear fact that we have not congregated as a people to discuss the conditions that are making such a phenomena conducive. May i suggest that the most essential thing that needs to be done is the establishmento of a govenment for the people and by the people. A govenment that is compassionate to its citizenry and ensures that there is prosperity amongst all of it's people as opposed to a few individuals. I know you all have ideas on how to solve this problem, why don't we come together and figure out the solution.

ARE GM FOODS SAFE FOR OUR PEOPLE?

Can anybody say for certain, that the genetically modified food are safe and that they have no side effects? These big corporations are pushing for African countries to adopt the use of such seeds in the name of alieviating hunger in Africa. Is that really so? No body disputes the fact that we face a dire crisis of starvation in most parts of Africa but are we ready to trade one crisis for another. I mean these companies responsible for such technologies cannot even provide assuarances to the safety of their products. Why should we trust them. The one thing i know for sure is that if African countries adopt the use of such technologies they would be enormous profits made by these organizations just like the big pharmaceuticals and the losers would be our people. Think about it? there would be such a big market for the technology that you are almost assured of a monopoly. Our politicians and responsible public officials should not endorse the use of such technologies until we are assured of their safety

WHY DO WE KEEP RECYCLING POLITICIANS??

Yes, it's like having a nightmare!I am only 26 but I remember under MOI we had kibaki, Kalonzo, Mudavadi, Ntimama, Saitoti, Nyachae should I keep going? You get my point. Over the years politicians have been able to change political parties and we blindly voted for them like they were something new. Why is is that our people do not even see this? are we so damn and stupid that we keep voting for the same people. These people have done so much harm to Kenya that it is not funny. How much do MP'S and ministers make? almost 13,000- 15,000 dollars a month. Are you serious? what is the poverty rate in Kenya? is it moral or even economically feasible for these people to be paid such amount of money when they do not even work? A U.S senator makes about 160,000 dollars a year, but remember this is a 13 trillion dollars economy compared to Kenya's 10 billion. You see my point. We seriously need new people in politics, people who have not been tainted by the culture of corruption displayed by virtually all of Kenya's politicians. Raila has a chance to do good right now in my opinion, the problem is that he is surrounded by people who have done harm to our people from previous governments. Whether its Ruto or Ntimama, Kones or most of those guys. What we need is a strong grassroots movement that will be able to go around Kenya and educate people on what needs to get done.
Hopefully soon or later some of us should come together and formulate a real plan.

KENYAN HAVE SHOWN POLITICAL MATURITY

Yes yes Kenya an African country has left alot to be desired my most countries. After weeks and weeks of hysteria, incitement and propaganda by the BBC and some media outlets of the possibility of major chaos during the referendum vote on the proposed constitution, my people you have done me proud. Remember even in the United States they face corrupt practices when it comes to presidential votes!!
As I had indicated, a no vote on the Proposed constitution was in lock step with the necessary steps needed to truly and finally help the people of Kenya prosper. Even though there were provisions on the proposed constitution that I supported, the underlying current was the institution of mechanisms that would keep the powers of the president in check. For too long now our presidents from Kenyatta to Kibaki, have abused the presidential powers for their own gains at the expense of fellow Kenyans.
There is no one tribe that is superior in Kenya, and for there to be a majority of one tribe in government is not representative of our true nation. Young Kenyans, please maintain your focus on our country and soon rather than later we shall impact change.

WHY IS AFRICA STILL BEGGING FROM THE WEST??

For 18 years out the 26 Years that have been on this earth, I thought to myself, " we absolutely need the help of the developed countries for Africa and it's people to develop." Well ladies and gentlemen, I would not have been more wrong on my assumptions. The truth of the matter is Africa is more than capable of taking care of its problems. The difficulties that we currently face are mostly as a result of African leaders who luck vision and have been corrupted by these very same nations that are exploiting us. Think about it, we get loans from this countries that we have to pay back with interest, yet we use those very same monies to buy goods from these nations. Even a primary kid student would tell you that, that is against the fundamentals of a business 101 course.
Africa has got a lot to offer, what we need to be pushing for is opening up of markets for goods that are produced in Africa instead of begging for donor aid. I am positive that most of you know that, some of the aid that we get ends up in a few corrupt government officials as opposed to going into helping the general population that it is intended for. Africans please wake up and see what's around you, we need to rise up wipe out the stigma that face from.

When are Kenyans going to wake up

I have read the proposed new constitution and I must say it gets no where close to addressing the needs of Kenyans. Well let me back up for a minute there is one thing good about the proposed constitution, that is for someone like me who resides in a different country I can be able to retain my Kenyan citizenship even if i become a citizen of a foreign nation. Well then you must think then i support the proposed constitution right? well u are wrong. The constitution is supposed to represent the interests of all Kenyans and not just one individual, that is exactly what the proposed constitution does, it addresses the needs of a few individuals. The fact that the bulk of the constitution that we employ today was put in place by the colonialist should give you pose! well if it does not, then right there is the problem that Kenya faces today, the shear ignorance of our people to take this corrupt, inept and cowardly politicians at their word. Remember that, if our leaders have not been reduced to beggars by Britain and some of this foreign nations then they are in cahout with some of these nations in exploiting our people. Please people wake up, we need drastic changes in Kenya and the best way toward obtaining that goal is by truly establishing a constitution that guarantees our sovereignty, our freedom, establishes a clear separation of the executive, legislature and judiciary bodies and also institutes checks and balances within our government. Under the present constitution the president has too much power that mostly goes unchecked.
A no vote on the present proposed constitution would be the only noble thing to do and right after it is voted out we should embark on the business of the Kenyan people and establish a real constitution.
