ARE GM FOODS SAFE FOR OUR PEOPLE?

Can anybody say for certain, that the genetically modified food are safe and that they have no side effects? These big corporations are pushing for African countries to adopt the use of such seeds in the name of alieviating hunger in Africa. Is that really so? No body disputes the fact that we face a dire crisis of starvation in most parts of Africa but are we ready to trade one crisis for another. I mean these companies responsible for such technologies cannot even provide assuarances to the safety of their products. Why should we trust them. The one thing i know for sure is that if African countries adopt the use of such technologies they would be enormous profits made by these organizations just like the big pharmaceuticals and the losers would be our people. Think about it? there would be such a big market for the technology that you are almost assured of a monopoly. Our politicians and responsible public officials should not endorse the use of such technologies until we are assured of their safety
